Dr. Paul and his experienced team of physician assistants and nurses together bring a contemporary approach to spine surgery widely recognized across the United States and abroad.
As a well known expert in spine management, Dr. Ronjon Paul is elevating the level of care for patients in the Chicago area and beyond. His delivery of optimal long-term outcomes has fueled a rapidly growing reputation for complex cervical and lumbar spine reconstruction.
Now, with Endeavor Health Medical Group, Dr. Paul plans to bring his contemporary philosophy of care to the next level. He continually uses his extensive expertise in minimally invasive surgery to improve the patient experience. Perhaps just as notable as his knowledge and skill, however, is Dr. Paul’s unwavering emphasis on the human side of medicine. In fact, surgical patients have sought him out from as far away as Hong Kong, and he remains a favorite among the area’s physicians and their families. Previously, Dr. Paul had served as Chair Emeritus of Duly Health and Care’s Spine Surgery Department.
This combination of expertise and empathy grew out of his desire to build a spine program prioritizing a multidisciplinary approach. With over 95% of spine patients not requiring surgery, Dr. Paul felt the need to establish more evidence-based, nonoperative alternatives. By creating a conservative practice with solid indications for surgery, they quickly earned a stellar reputation and an ever-expanding clientele.
With achievements like these, Dr. Paul has joined the rich tradition of medicine and community care established by his family across five generations and three continents. It began with his great-great-grandfather, who opened a much-needed pharmacy on the outskirts of Calcutta, India, and his grandfather, who attended medical school and staffed the community’s most trusted clinic. Dr. Paul’s father (Tarak) also went on to pursue medicine and then emigrate to the UK in pursuing higher training and specialization. After developing an interest in endocrine research Tarak Paul was recruited to the US, where he practiced medicine in the Chicago area for over almost 40 years before retiring at the age of 80.
Dr. Paul chose to become a spine surgeon after recognizing the potential for evolution in Spine Surgery. In wanting to grow as a less invasive surgeon and evolve as a surgeon, he became obsessed with less invasive techniques that would bring substantial benefit to his patients with lower risk and easier recoveries.
Now, Dr. Ronjon Paul is proud to carry on this long history of medicine and service. Not only does he continue providing his patients with superior care, but he also remains involved in teaching minimally invasive techniques to neurosurgeons and spinal surgeons from around the country—as well as from Asia, Africa, and Europe. Widely recognized for his leadership and skill, he won the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy Alumni Leadership award in 2011, and became the first surgeon to win the Physician of the Year Award from Duly Health and Care in 2016.
Dr. Paul’s excellent clinical team includes Kevin Wright, PA-C. Each of them has spent over a decade caring for thousands of spine patients, and together they and Dr. Paul remain passionate about offering seamless, compassionate, and contiguous care for all of their patients on a daily basis.

Endeavor Health Medical Group gives Dr. Paul’s patients access and the ability to have many of the integrated and technological advantages enjoyed within a larger corporate practice. However, his team and office function with the intimacy and personalized care of the four generations that preceded him. Although trained and educated at elite institutions, his office and team prefer to behave with an understated pride and the humility his patients deserve. Furthermore, Dr. Paul, and his team, have made a firm commitment to the community and its elderly. While some other reputable and high profile practices refuse medicare and/or medicare products, Dr. Paul’s team chooses to follow its heart and ethics in embracing our senior citizens.
The Paul medical story started around the turn of the twentieth century when his Great Grandfather (Ramdhon Paul) established a much needed pharmacy on the outskirts of Calcutta, India. The pharmacy had a trusted reputation for quality medications dispensed in a responsible manner.
Dr. Paul’s grandfather (Kali Charan Paul) went to medical school and staffed the community’s most trusted clinic on the second floor of the pharmacy for over fifty years.
Dr. Paul’s father (Tarak Paul) also went on to a career in medicine and eventually emigrated to the United Kingdom for higher training in 1953. There he developed a keen interest in diabetes and endocrinology. In 1966 he successfully published an article in the Lancet which led to a fellowship at Northwestern University and then the University of Chicago.
Dr. Tarak Paul went on the practice in the Chicago area for over almost 40 years. He retired in 2010 at the age of 80. He had been known to drop in on his son at the Spine Center from time to time. Dr. Tarak Paul passed on in late 2021 at the age of 91.
